Denmark Fiest also known as DenMark Treeing Feist. Remember, Fiest is a type of dog, not a distinct breed. Its history dates back to 1917 when the Slade family bought a Fiest-type dog. It was perfected and developed by Mark Slade and Dennis Willis and presented as a distinct breed in 1984, named Denmark Fiest. The Denmark Fiest is bred with the intention of having an excellent arboreal dog with an exceptional ability to trail very quietly. Denmark Fiest is bold, fearless, an excellent guardian and hunting dog. It's a good family dog with great devotion and loyalty to the family. Quite simply, a Denmark Fiest is a guard dog and a family pet. With considerable early socialization, it can tend to do well with children and other pets in the home. Quite intelligent, the Denmark Fiest can be trained with consistent, targeted positive reinforcement training. Being a working dog, the Denmark Fiest would like to exercise every day to maintain its health and fitness. The breed's short coat is easy to groom. It's a medium-sized dog, with a height of 38 to 46 centimeters and a weight of 11 to 16 kilos. The life expectancy of the Danish Fiest is 12 to 14 years.

The breed's flat skull is moderately broad, tapering towards the muzzle. The muzzle is broad and rather shorter than the head. The breed's nose is always black. Their sparkling eyes color the darkness. Pointed ears are permitted, but teardrop ears are preferred. The tight, muscular neck is of medium length, and the body is longer than the large one. The well arched feet are somewhat tight and rounded. Mostly born with a docked tail. The natural tail is dense and thick at the base, tapering gradually to the tip. The tail appears erect when the dog is excited or alert, but remains straight when at rest. The breed's thick, dense coat is rough. The breed's coat colors include solid red or yellow and red with white patches.

These dogs are mainly used to tree squirrels, though they are sometimes used to hunt bobcats and raccoons, and sometimes used to hunt wild boar. Simply put, a Denmark Fiest is a superb tree and guard dog and family pet.

With considerable early socialization, it can tend to do well with children and other pets in the home. However; it's a bit aloof with strangers.

Denmark Fiest's short, dense coat requires less grooming; it's easy to groom and simple to maintain the dog. Once or twice a week, brushing can do the most to maintain its appearance.
