The Pampas Hound originates from Brazil and is also found in Argentina and Uruguay. Its history is deeply intertwined with the Pampas region of South America. It is a Brazilian hunting dog breed, first officially recognized by a national kennel club in Brazil, where it is still commonly used for tracking and hunting Pampas deer and wild boar. The Pampas Hound is a medium-sized, long-legged sighthound native to South America, renowned for its speed and agility when hunting deer and wild boar.

These dogs have a short, dense, and odorless coat, typically fawn, brindle, or white. They are described as intelligent, energetic, and affectionate with their family, though sometimes reserved with strangers. Due to their strong prey drive, they may not be suitable for homes with small pets. Pampas Hunting Dogs have a calm temperament and make excellent companions. Prized for their great docility and gentleness with children, they are patient and calm even with boisterous kids. Deeply attached to their owners, they make excellent watchdogs, capable of alerting them to the presence of strangers with their barking.

Pampas Hunting Dogs are extremely agile, tireless pursuers, and excellent trackers. Once they pick up a scent, they can relentlessly follow their prey, even if it takes them two days. These dogs can hunt alone, in pairs, in packs, or with their owner. Pampas Hunting Dogs require a balanced diet, specially formulated for active breeds. Their diet should include animal protein, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, and vitamins. It is also essential to always ensure their dog has access to fresh, clean water.
