Hunters value the Serbian Yellow Hound for its abilities in the forest, not for its official status.
Even without FCI recognition, it is among the most popular hunting breeds in the region.
Since 1954, it has shared the same breed standard as the Serbian Hound, but its reputation rests on its performance in the field.
A robust, medium-sized dog with a short, bright yellow coat. It has no "special characteristics," only endurance and an innate hunting instinct.
For decades, this breed has been preserved by discerning individuals. A good hound doesn't need a certificate.
Males stand between 45 and 55 cm tall, while females are slightly smaller.
Its coat is entirely yellow, without any black markings or patterns. All its other characteristics are dedicated to speed and endurance.
Perseverance is its defining characteristic. These dogs don't just chase; they work tirelessly until their mission is accomplished.
Conservation efforts by groups like the Native Breed Preservation Center have allowed for occasional censuses of remaining populations, but the breed remains extremely rare and close to extinction.
