The « Odate Inu » refers to a breed of Akita dog, named after the city of Odate in Akita Prefecture, its birthplace in Japan. World-renowned thanks to its loyal companion Hachiko, this robust and dignified breed was once used for hunting and dogfighting. Today, it is considered a national treasure, prized for its loyalty and protective instincts. Odate has a dedicated center and hosts festivals in its honor. The Odate Inu is a regional variant of the Akita, recognizable by its sturdy build and thick double coat. It shares character traits such as loyalty and courage with the Akita Inu. Originally bred for hunting, the Odate Inu is a protective and independent dog that requires an experienced owner.
