The « Odate Inu » refers to a breed of Akita dog, named after the city of Odate in Akita Prefecture, its birthplace in Japan. World-renowned thanks to its loyal companion Hachiko, this robust and dignified breed was once used for hunting and dogfighting. Today, it is considered a national treasure, prized for its loyalty and protective instincts. Odate has a dedicated center and hosts festivals in its honor. The Odate Inu is a regional variant of the Akita, recognizable by its sturdy build and thick double coat. It shares character traits such as loyalty and courage with the Akita Inu.
