| The Giant Bolonauzer is a specific crossbreed that combines the Bichon Bolonais and the Giant Schnauzer. They are medium to large-sized dogs. The Bolognese and Giant Schnauzer shed very little and are both hypoallergenic breeds. The coat of this hybrid can be wavy or wiry and of medium length. The Giant Bolonauzer is an energetic, intelligent, loyal and happy dog, but it definitely has a mind of its own and isn't afraid to use it. | The Bolognese was named after Bologna, a city in Italy. Bologna is thought to be where the breed was first established. A prized pet of noble families, this canine is related to the Bichon havanais, Maltese, Bichon frise and Coton de tuléar. Members of the wealthy class who owned this lively dog included the Medici family, the Estes family and, in Russia, Catherine the Great. Also known as the Bichon Bolognese, they ran into trouble after falling out of favor after the Renaissance, almost becoming extinct. A few loyal European breeders kept the breed alive, and years later, descendants of the Bolognese made their way to the United States. | ||

| The Giant Schnauzer is a working dog breed developed in 17th century Germany. There are three types of Schnauzer: the Miniature Schnauzer, the Standard Schnauzer and the Giant Schnauzer. The breed is not actually a giant, but is the largest of the three Schnauzer types. The Giant Schnauzer is thought to have been developed by breeding the Great Dane, German Pinscher and Bouvier des Flandres. They were bred to guard and protect livestock entering the market to be sold. They were kept as guard dogs on farms, in factories and stores. The Giant Schnauzer was also used as a military dog during the First and Second World Wars. | ||

| The Giant Bolonauzer will be a medium to large dog with a square shape. As both parents have a fluffy coat, his will be the same, although it can vary from medium to long and from soft to wavy to stiff. This hybrid will have floppy ears and dark, expressive eyes. It may have a long, fluffy tail. The Giant Bolonauzer will most likely have a square head and medium-sized muzzle, and may have a bearded chin like the Giant Schnauzer parent. Its nose will be black, as will the rims of its eyes. |

It has a lot of energy and needs plenty of time outdoors where it can let off steam. Trips to the dog park can be managed if you've been working with your Giant Bolonauzer to perfect his social skills. He may enjoy obedience trials. This activity may be just what he needs to use his intelligence, while working on his listening skills. |
Maintenance of the Giant Bolonauzer |
| The Giant Bolonauzer's coat can be medium to long, wavy or stiff. The coat should be brushed with a pincushion brush and carefully combed to avoid matting and tangles. If his coat is stiff, he may need to be stripped every 6 months. Trimming with scissors will be necessary to keep the hair away from the eyes, and if there's a beard or eyebrows, these will need trimming too. As with all hybrids, tooth care is important. Daily brushing, or at least three times a week, is essential to prevent decay and pain. Your hybrid's nails should not be neglected, as nail tears and breaks can lead to infection. |
