| The Smooth Pom Terrier is a hybrid breed. Its parent breeds are the Fox Terrier Smooth and the German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian. Although they are affectionate with all family members, they are known to be particularly gentle with children. He needs a moderate amount of exercise, and is alert and energetic at all times. He is easy to train and listens very well to your commands. He will need moderate grooming depending on the type of coat he inherits. He's happy in an apartment or house, with or without a fenced yard. |

| The Fox Terrier Smooth has a rich history and is known to have won more Best-In-Show awards at the Westminster Kennel Club than any other breed in dog show history. The Fox Terrier Smooth has been a favorite of royalty and artists alike. It was developed to "go to ground" (enter foxes' dens and make them leap from their hiding places). The Fox Terrier Smooth is thought to be a combination of Black and Tan Terriers with Bull Terriers, Greyhounds and Beagles. The Fox Terrier Smooth arrived in the United States around 1879. The American Kennel Club recognized the Fox Terrier Smooth as its own breed in 1985. | ||

A little of the German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian |
| The German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian has its origins in the northernmost province of Pomerania. It is thought to be related to the Spitz breed, which originated in this land. At one time, the Spitz weighed up to 14 kilos. Breeding the Spitz with smaller dogs eventually helped make the German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian the small breed it is today. The breed has traditionally been popular with royalty. The Princess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz brought the German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian to England, and eventually Queen Victoria owned the breed. She was particularly fond of the breed, and is thought to have encouraged the breeding of the Pom with smaller dogs to achieve the size they have today. In the early 1900s, the German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian made its way to America, where it became immensely popular as well. Famous Pom owners include Michelangelo, Mozart, Issac Newton and Martin Luther. |

| The Smooth Pom Terrier often resembles its German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian parent, with its wedge-shaped head and long muzzle. It will probably have a longer coat that can be silky and straight or somewhat wavy. He'll probably be white with tan markings. Depending on the color of the German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian, the Smooth Pom Terrier may also be black and white or red and white. He's likely to have the straight ears of his German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian parent. However, if he inherits the floppy ears of the Fox Terrier Smooth's parent breed, he'll need special attention. The Smooth Pom Terrier is a small dog. They weigh no more than 8 kilos when fully grown. It is likely to have feathers on its legs and tail. It may also inherit the ruff that the German Toy Spitz / Pomeranian has around its neck. |

| The Smooth Pom Terrier can sometimes be described as a ball of energy. He loves to play and never misses an opportunity to do so. He also loves to play with his human family. As he's very intelligent, provide him with toys that will not only give him physical activity, but also adequate mental stimulation. He'll enjoy short, brisk walks with you, so if you divide up his exercise, make sure you walk him at least twice a day. He'll also appreciate outings to the dog park, where he can run and play with other dogs and people. If you have a fenced-in garden, you can also let him play freely indoors. However, don't leave him in the yard for long periods. Remember, he's happiest with his human family. |
Maintenance of the Smooth Pom Terrier |
| The Smooth Pom Terrier will need a lot of maintenance, whatever coat type it inherits. He's likely to have a shedding coat, whatever type he inherits.
