| The Aszara or Azara Fox (Lycalopex gymnocercus), also known as the Pampas Fox, is a medium-sized fox of the genus Lycalopex, the South American foxes. It is known locally as the zorro. The Aszara fox resembles the red fox, but is smaller and grayer. Individuals weigh from 4 to 6 kilos. Pampas foxes can be found in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil. They prefer meadows, forests and valleys. They feed on plants, rats, fruit, rabbits, frogs, lizards and birds. |
