| The Argentine gray fox is found in regions at the Horn of South America, mainly in Argentina and Chile. In Chile, the species is found throughout the country. A presence in Peru has been mentioned, but never confirmed. The Argentine grey fox was brought to the Falkland Islands from the 20s to the 30s, and still seems to be present, notably on the islands of Castor and Weddell. The Argentine gray fox lives in a variety of habitats, including the hot, arid scrublands of the Argentine Monte, the cold Patagonian steppe, and the forest of southernmost Chile. It breeds around March. After a gestation period of 2 months, 2 to 4 young are born in the burrow. No further information is available on the behavior and lifestyle of the Argentine gray fox. The Argentine gray fox is a small carnivorous predator, hunting mainly rodents, rabbits and birds.
