A brief presentation of the Mini Toy Foxter

The Mini Toy Foxter is a beautiful mix of the Miniature Fox Terrier and the Toy Fox Terrier, so it's a very small dog. They measure between 20.5 and 33 centimeters in height and weigh between 2.5 and 4.5 kilos. This little dog is active and alert and has a ton of energy, so get ready to play. They are excellent guard dogs and will attack much larger dogs or anyone they consider a threat to their family. Although they are small enough to be kept in an apartment, they would much prefer to run around outside as they are very athletic and energetic.

History of the Mini Toy Foxter

The Mini Toy Foxter hasn't been around long enough to build its own history, so it's best to rely on the stories of the Miniature Fox Terrier and Toy Fox Terrier.

	A little of the Miniature Fox Terrier
	The Miniature Fox Terrier, or Mini Foxie, is Australia's only Terrier and was bred from British Fox Terriers in the 1800s. According to many, they have also been crossed with Whippets, English Toy Terriers and Toy Manchester Terriers. They have always been known for their excellent hunting ability and have been used as rat and snake exterminators throughout Australia. The Miniature Fox Terrier quickly proved to be a wonderful family companion and became very popular with everyone, including famous Australians such as Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe and Anthony Field of the Wiggles. They are not yet as popular in the USA, but their parents, the Toy Fox Terrier, the Smooth Fox Terrier and the Wire Fox Terrier, are all well known and loved in America.

	Toy Fox Terriers were discovered in the USA in the 1900s and used to hunt squirrels, vermin and foxes. They were bred from the Toy Manchester Terrier, the Miniature Pinscher, the Chihuahua and the Smooth Fox Terrier. These little dogs were not only hunters, but were also used as performers in the circus, and soon afterwards in dog shows. The Toy Fox Terrier Association was founded in 1949, and the breed was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 2003. The Toy Fox Terrier is currently the 116th most popular dog breed in the United States.

Appearance of the Mini Toy Foxter

The Mini Toy Foxter is a small dog with bright, alert brown oval eyes or black eyes, a black or brown nose and a compact body with slender legs. Their tails are generally of medium length, with short, fine hair that stands up or curls a little over the back. The Mini Toy Foxter has small triangular ears that can be hanging or erect. Their muzzle is about the length of their skull, which is small and wedge-shaped. Their coat is dense, smooth, short, straight and mainly white with patches of darker colors such as black, brown or cream.

Temperament of the Mini Toy Foxter

The Mini Toy Foxter can get along with anyone, including other pets and children, but must be socialized from the start and well trained. They also need to be supervised with smaller children, and you shouldn't leave them alone with small pets like guinea pigs and rabbits, as they have a large prey drive. This breed should be kept on a leash outdoors, as they won't hesitate to run or chase other animals. Training your Mini Toy Foxter should be fairly easy, but they can be stubborn, which may take a little extra time and patience.

Needs and activities of the Mini Toy Foxter

This breed is a high-energy dog that needs at least an hour and a half of exercise every day. They do best when they're able to spend at least a few hours a day outdoors, running and chasing local wildlife. However, they also need the mental stimulation to play with their human family and learn new tricks and games. Some things your dog might enjoy include going to the dog park, playing fetch, spending the day at the beach or hiking in the woods. This breed is also excellent for agility training and would do well in competitions.

Maintenance of the Mini Toy Foxter

Your Mini Toy Foxter requires very little maintenance. In fact, all you need to do is brush it once or twice a week with a rubber or smooth brush to prevent excessive shedding and increase circulation. You should only need to wash them once in a while when they're particularly dirty, but make sure you use a gentle dog shampoo that won't dry out the skin. In addition, your dog's ears should be cleaned once a week to prevent a build-up of dirt and earwax. Mini Toy Foxter should also have his nails trimmed every two months or as needed.
