In tribute to

My Oxmo

Thanks to

Guintini

To my big teddy bear Oxmo, who passed away in August 2005, my big baby who will never leave my heart.

Loulou, I got you back in 2000 after a long struggle to buy you back from an unscrupulous man.

You were 2 years old, destined to be a fighting dog, starved, beaten and locked up in the dark.

One day I crossed your path and the look in your eyes told me a lot.

Since that day I've done everything I could to get you back, and after months of fighting I was finally able to convince your owner, who needed money, to let me buy you back.

You were so shy and skinny, but the look in your eyes bowled me over.

According to your master, you weren't fit to be a fighting dog.

It took me months to get you out of those fears, but 1 year later you were majestic and no longer killed cats, which is what you were ordered to do.

We spent 5 and a half years together, but all the beating you took did you a lot of damage.

To build up your muscles, we tied you to the bumper of the car with a noose and made you run at 60 kph.

Day after day, your look changed, it was filled with love.

The journey with you wasn't easy because you hated men so much, but we made it through without a hitch until the day you got marrow cancer.

Despite an operation, you never walked again, and I had to put an end to your life, which was doomed to the ground.

You had lost your joie de vivre and your eyes implored me to end it all, which I did, but which still tears me apart.

From a nobody you became the king.

My baby, even if I took over a Rott female in homage to your breed, despite all the constraints imposed by the laws for Rotts.

I'd like you to know that I'll never forget you, you'll always live inside me, I'm asking you to wait for me on the other side, my big boy.

I love you so much.

Goodbye Oxmo.
