The Red-Tiger Bulldog was created by Reverend Scott L. Amos, Sr. and his son, Scott Amos II in the central Indiana region of the USA, starting in 1991. The Red-Tiger Bulldog was developed from a base of red American Bulldogs, which were owned by Reverend Scott L. Amos, also known as "Scott Free" and his international breeding program "Amos American Bulldogs" and "Free-Style American Bulldogs". The Red-Tiger Bulldog breed, breed registry and archives received primary government registration (serial number 85002578) with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on January 1, 2011 under the title "The World's First Bulldog Breed", while most other bulldog breeds feature traces of red-nosed specimens as less desirable traits in their black-nosed breed standard. The Amos developed the Red-Tiger Bulldog to exclusively reproduce pheomelanin/amelanistic colored dogs and red or reddish-brown coat colors in a brindle pattern. The word "Tiger" in the breed name is derived from the brindle tiger as the stripe in the Red-Tigers coat pattern. The "Red" part of the breed name is descriptive of the reddish or reddish-brown skin and coat color, while the word "Bulldog" in their name characterizes the heritage of the breed's ancestral genetic make-up.

In the late '90s, Reverend Amos infused Bulldogs with Ca de Bou-Mallorquin, Banter Bulldog and pure Old Southern White Bulldog genetics for outcross vigor. This complex infusion enabled the Red-Tiger Bulldog strain to achieve higher levels of health, refined structure (enabling better endurance), and a more cephalic head, jaw and respiratory system which enabled clean breathing, rather than the historically poor respiratory system existing in many other bulldog breeds, which originated from the more common brachycephalic and respiratory jaw that bulldogs in general were founded on.

In the mid-2000s, Amos added mixed Levitt bulldog blood and mixed bulldog blood from the southern USA, such as Talladega, Huntsville, Birmingham, Alabama and a particular Bulldog / Boxer Strain produced by Hobbyist breeders Mr. and Mrs. Kendrick Swain of Atlanta to broaden the pedigree position of Red-Tiger Bulldog bloodlines.

Although the inevitable evolution is near, the founding and developmental dispensations of this breed have been surpassed and the Red-Tiger Bulldog is now a beautiful reality rooted in America's history and records.

The Red-Tiger Bulldog's head should appear broad, flat on top and of medium length, with pronounced cheek muscles and a distinct stop. The head appears to have been chiseled, expressing great ability, rustic Bulldog elegance and character, the Red-Tiger Bulldog's head should give the impression of enormous power, but should not be disproportionate to the overall size and confirmation of the body.

The muzzle should be broad with wide-open nostrils approximately 6,5 to 9 centimetres long. The muzzle should be wider at the base, with a moderate or slight inclination towards the nose. Lips should be full of red or reddish-brown pigment, a little pink is permitted but not preferred. The chin is well defined and should even overlap or slightly overlap the upper lip without covering it, its length and width should be proportional to the overall face of the head.

The color of the nose should be red or reddish-brown only, light red / dark red / chocolate or liver. Pink, dudley or gray colors may appear but are considered aesthetic defects. Any nose color other than red or reddish-brown pigmentation is disqualifying.

The Red-Tiger Bulldog has a full set of medium to large white teeth and should not be visible when the mouth is closed. Tight lower prognathism (inverted scissors) preferred. Upper prognathism up to 1,5 centimetre acceptable (less is better). Moderately thick lips with reddish brown or reddish pigmentation covering them, with pink permitted.

The Red-Tiger Bulldog is trustworthy and perceptive, with a desire to please its master. The breed's confident eyes and bold shading serve as a deterrent to any threat to home or property. The Red-Tiger Bulldog is always loyal to its family but may not be welcoming to an unescorted guest. They can be dominant and aggressive towards dogs and strange animals if not encouraged not to do so from an early age. They have a strong prey drive. Early socialization training is advised to quell the possibility of aggression with strange dogs and small vermin. They get on well with dogs and pets. The Red-Tiger Bulldog needs a firm, consistent and confident owner. This breed is intelligent and eager to please, but can be stubborn and push for playtime during training sessions. A brisk walk or short play break before training sessions tends to burn off enough energy to curb this problem. Light corrections and large amounts of verbal praise tend to produce a positive response. Overly aggressive physical corrections or dominance can cause irreversible physiological damage. Red-Tiger Bulldogs have excellent memories and retain lessons quickly. It is imperative that the Red-Tiger Bulldog understands that members of the human pack are all superior in pack order. The Red-Tiger Bulldog is outgoing and gentle, submissive to children. They may shy away from strangers as their watchdog prowess is expressed, but calm down with their master's assurance. Red-Tiger Bulldogs are very protective of their owners and their owner's property and will be loyal to them, even when giving their own lives.

The Red-Tiger Bulldog requires a constant puppy diet during the first year of growth, irregular feeding patterns, overfeeding or lack of nutrition in the puppy can result in drooping pasterns and/or sneaking into the forelegs.

The Red-Tiger Bulldog will do well in an apartment if sufficiently exercised. They are relatively inactive indoors and will do best with at least a medium-sized yard.

The Red-Tiger Bulldog should be taken for a long daily walk. This breed does well in cities and rural areas, regular playtime as exercise or a moderate walk is a must. They are moderately active dogs and like to have a physical outlet. Red-Tiger Bulldogs are an "endurance" breed, developed with a leaner, more athletic structure than many Bulldog heritage dogs. They are explosive, fast and agile, requiring mental as well as physical stimulus.

The short, hard coat is easy to groom. Comb and brush with a firm bristle brush and bathe only when necessary. This breed is a medium excretor.
