Created by crossing the American Bulldog with the Rafeiro de Alentejo, then introducing carefully selected AmStaff blood, the powerful Abraxas Bulldogge is a new attempt to recreate the Alaunt, developed for protection, livestock control and hog hunting duties. Even after 10 years of true-to-type breeding, these dogs are not available for commercial use. The creators of the Abraxas Bulldogge place their puppies with working homes only, then observe their development and judge working abilities as a benchmark for future breeding. The dogs are bred to a consistent, established standard, which was written in 1998. Described as extremely aggressive, intolerant of strangers and aggressive towards other dogs, the Abraxas Bulldogge needs firm, experienced handling. It is trainable and obedient, but can be overly dominant and stubborn at times. At present, this sturdy, tenacious breed is bred for professional use only, and there are no known Abraxas Bulldogs living as family pets. Deeply muscled and muscular, this athletic mastiff is said to be very healthy and agile.

The Abraxas Bulldogge comes in two varieties, one short and bully-like, the other shepherd-like and slightly fuller. Densely coated, the breed has a hard, thick topcoat that requires only reasonable care. The accepted coloring for the Abraxas Bulldogge is white with darker markings of fawn, brown, red and brindle.

Average height is around 63 centimeters.
