Sicilian Vucciriscu Sicilian Butcher Dog U Vucciriscu Vuccirisco

The Vucciriscu is a molosser-type dog, related to mastiffs and bulldog breeds. Its face is similar to that of a Boxer, but its head is less pronounced than in other molossers. Its muzzle is of medium length, and its ears hang down on either side of its head. It has drooping lips that tend to drool, long, slender forelegs, and more muscular hind legs. Its coat can be various colors, although it is usually brindle or red, sometimes with white markings or a solid color. Some Vucciriscus are blue, black and tan, or entirely black, but these dogs of different colors are considered mixed breeds and not purebred. Its tail is fairly thin and is either docked at the base or left to a medium length when undocked. Some are also known for their broad chest, although it appears narrower than in other mastiff breeds.

This dog is known to be aggressive towards other dogs and wary of humans, especially strangers.
It is essential to socialize them properly from a very young age so they become accustomed to their environment.
Although they appear active and muscular, they are actually quite lazy and only use their strength when necessary.
Its height is approximately 61 cm and its weight is approximately 61 kg.

The Vucciriscu is a molosser-type dog, related to the Calabrian Bucciriscu and the Cane Corso.
However, it is smaller and its facial features are less pronounced.
Molossers are one of the oldest dog breeds still in existence today.
To understand their history, one must go back to their original ancestor, the Molossus.
The latter originated in ancient Greece, more precisely in Epirus, a region located in what is now North Macedonia, Greece, Albania, and Montenegro.
At that time, Illyrian and Greek tribes coexisted, and the exact origin of the The Molossus of Epirus, the birthplace of the Molossus, remains uncertain.
Thanks to their war dogs, the Molossians were renowned as one of the most powerful peoples in the region.
The origins of these dogs before their adoption by the Molossians are unknown, although some suggest they descended from a Persian tribe in the 5th century AD, during an invasion between the Balkans and Greece in which the Molossians participated.
Others maintain that the Molossus originated from local dogs.
It enjoyed immense popularity throughout the world during the Hellenistic period.
In 411 BC, about 80 years after the Greco-Roman War, a play mentions a Molossus.
Later, in 347 BC, In the 1st century BC, Aristotle recognized the Molossus as a type of dog rather than a distinct breed.
He described two different dogs : one, supposedly a herding dog, and the other, a hunting dog.
This information may explain the sometimes vague or contradictory nature of the Molossus descriptions.
Originally, the Molossus belonged exclusively to the Molossian people, but over time, it spread throughout the region and beyond.
