The North Wachhund is a breed of small guard dog developed in the forests of North America. It is influenced by cattle dogs, Collies and Shepherds for drive and intelligence, the American Staffordshire Terrier and American Bulldog for strength and temperament, and the Whippet for endurance and speed. This is a working breed designed to be a lighter, smaller dog than the usual working breeds. This dog is extremely healthy and intelligent. It is an active and loyal dog, generally adapting to the family but especially to a single person to guide it. They are not typically children's dogs, due to their snarling nature and serious attitude to work. but they are absolutely devoted to protecting the family. This dog is developed for his size and intelligence so you can easily push him away or carry him when you're working.

Nord Wachhunds are athletic and need to move like an athlete. They have stamina and energy, so the dog must be able to carry himself effortlessly. The dog has a floating trot gait that can be maintained over long distances. The animal moves in a straight line and, in a sprint, leaps quickly and cleanly with a high rate of speed and power. With the dog's sloping back and hindquarters, it is able to have great springing power from the hindquarters and can jump easily three times its height.

Nord Wachhunds are highly intelligent dogs with a serious, focused expression. They are active and have stamina for any work they are put to. They are always focused on the person giving them instructions, and you can see them thinking. Because Nord Wachhunds were designed for work, they are able to solve problems and handle different situations. These dogs are ready to die for you and do whatever you teach them. They are talented, athletic guardians who always need something to do. If this dog is left without work, it can become destructive with boredom. They are not ideal with children due to their sulky nature, but they can be supervised and make an excellent protection for the family. The Nord Wachhund is a versatile working dog, but is especially good at protection and defense. These little dogs are strong and fast. They are courageous and willing to go into dangerous areas to carry out searches. These dogs make excellent service animals and can do farm work if they have a strong motivation.

The North Wachhund should have an athletic appearance with straight legs and a deep chest. This dog is designed to move with a deep chest, good lungs and a well-proportioned head. The tail is set low and follows the slope of the back. The tail is long and hooked if left natural, but it is preferable to clip it. The tail is long and hooked if left natural, but it is preferable to cut it for work. The face should have a moderate stop and a medium muzzle with a scissor bite. The nose is always black with black lips. The eyes are small, dark almond-shaped with black lids. Ears are set high and erect. Rosebud ears are acceptable but not preferred for naturalness. Legs are straight with small paws. The coat is smooth, short or medium length, never long. The coat should be satiny, glossy and healthy, with feathering on the hindquarters. White patches extending beyond the muzzle, toes or chest are unacceptable. Other colors are anything solid with small white spots or broken color which is two colors. Unacceptable colors are brindle, tricolor, blue, blue eyes, pink flesh around the mouth, nose and eyes.

Nord Wachhunds are medium-sized dogs, measuring between 43 and 56 centimeters at the withers and weighing between 16 and 23 kilos. The size of this dog should enable it to accomplish most tasks while being easy to handle and lift.
