The Timmon’s Biter was a line of Australian herding dogs developed by a man named James Timmons during the 19th century. Most sources indicate that he crossed Smithfield-type dogs with Dingoes to create this line. The resulting dogs were often too rough with livestock, earning them the nickname "biters".

Some authors credit the Timmon’s Biter with playing a role in the development of the Australian Cattle Dog. However, others state that Thomas Hall provided Timmons with a pair of his "Hall’s Heelers" to start the breeding program. The Hall’s Heeler is the primary ancestor of the Australian Cattle Dog, although it is possible that the Timmon’s Biter also played a part.
